Classy hangout of the fabulous Plaza Athenee hotel. The only bar in Manhattan with an all-leather floor, it was recently revamped along with the exquisite Arabelle French restaurant. Decor is North African with a little Parisian sophistication thrown in. Seats are decked out in animal print fabrics, walls and ceilings have ornate Moroccan-style flourishes, and the clientele are refined international jet-setters. Prop up a stool by the cosy bar counter and you might find yourself sipping a martini with Pierce 'Bond' Brosnan, or chewing peanuts with Lara Flynn Boyle. One of the hippest post-work cocktail hangouts in Manhattan, its perfect for illicit liaisons too.
